Myanmar Oil and Gas Blocks 2017-2018

Allocated oil and gas block licence data as geodata based on MEITI 5th Report (FY2017/18) published annex data and block coordinate list released by MEITI in 2019 (http://www.myanmareiti.org/files/uploads/license_information2017-2018.xlsx). The dataset contains all oil and gas blocks that were allocated during fiscal year 2017/2018 and attributes such as type of block, type of activity, operating companies, etc.

As the MEITI licence annex data contains some inaccuracies and errors, OneMap Myanmar used coordinate information contained in a separate document shared by MEITI in 2018 (https://myanmareiti.org/files/uploads/4._updated_combined_onshore_offshore_psc_blocks_conditions_all.pdf) as well as a best-guess approach to correct those.

This dataset includes the original and cleaned data columns. Additional processing attributes were added during the data generation by OneMap Myanmar. The detailed description of attribute fields can be found in attached metadata attributes excel sheet.

The original metadata was in English language and it was translated to Burmese language by ODM team. Both metadata are attached in the zipped shapefile in excel format.

Process Step Version 2020-12-08: Attribute data downloaded from MEITI http://www.myanmareiti.org/files/uploads/license_information2017-2018.xlsx on 2020-05-15. Data columns cleaned & standardized by OneMap Myanmar (correct obvious typos, remove unnecessary spaces, standardize value domains where possible, etc.). Geometry created based on coordinate information columns by conversion of coordinate values to GIS data and connecting the coordinates with straight lines (in ArcMap using SRS EPSG4326) to oil and gas block polygons. Linking the MEITI 5th report attribute data to the block geometries. In absence of coordinates defining the eastern extend of the block PSC-R, this data uses the non-authoritative township boundary geometry curated by OneMap Myanmar (unreleased version 2020-10-20) to fill this data gap in the MEITI data. Other obvious data quality issues were improved by using coordinates from a separate oil and gas licence block coordinates document shared by MEITI in 2018 (https://myanmareiti.org/files/uploads/4._updated_combined_onshore_offshore_psc_blocks_conditions_all.pdf) as well as by applying a best guess approach with some issues remaining unresolved or undetected.
