ANFREL final report: 1998 Cambodia general elections
The report was the result of ANFREL's missions to observe Cambodia's 1998 National Assembly elections from July 20 to August 2, 1998. A total of 45 international observers from 18 countries (10 from Asia and 8 from Europe and North America) were deployed in the country's target areas. While the first self-organized elections in 1998 was considered as a milestone and provided a foundation for the future development of democracy and the institutions of democracy in the country, Cambodia remained far from reaching a solid ground for the consolidation of any meaningful representative political system.
