Western Pacific regional action plan for dengue prevention and control
The global incidence of dengue has grown dramatically in recent decades. In the Western Paci c Region, the number of reported dengue cases has more than doubled from about 200 000 in 2008 to over 450 000 in 2015. Prompted by concern over the increasing dengue incidence in the Region and the presence of other arboviral infections, Member States requested a new regional action plan for dengue at the sixty- fth session of the WHO Regional Committee in 2014, in light of the impending end of the Dengue Stra- tegic Plan for the Asia Paci c Region 2008–2015.
