One conclusion that remains from Ankarfjärd and Kegl (1998) is that the handling of fire needs to be controlled in a better way by some tappers. The concentration of affected trees to specific tappers indicates differences in tapping technique, which could be helped by improving tapping skills. Still the majority of tappers are good tappers possessing knowledge that is of use in managing this resource.
