The Ethnic Rights Protection Law 2015

The Ethnic Rights Protection Law of Myanmar (Pyidaungsu Hluttaw Law No. 8, 2015) was created to protect the rights of ethnic groups in the country. The law's objectives include: - Ensuring equal citizenship rights for all ethnic groups - Preserving the language, literature, culture, and religion of ethnic groups - Promoting solidarity and mutual assistance among ethnic groups - Supporting the socio-economic development of less-developed ethnic groups The law was an attempt to ensure that the ethnic rights outlined in the 2008 Constitution were upheld.

Regarding this document, is available both English and Burmese. In addition to the Ethnic Rights Protection Law, the Myanmar government established the Ministry of Ethnic Affairs in 2016. The ministry's mission is to promote the development of ethnic socioeconomic activities and to protect ethnic rights.
