Key fisheries issues in the Mekong region

A draft paper highlighting the key issues related to the use and management of aquatic resources of the Mekong Basin. The author explore three dominant issues that influence the sustainable management aquatic resources in the Mekong, namely (1) resource utilisation and its impact on livelihoods; (2) institutional constraints; and (3) limited availability and consumption of usable knowledge. Prepared for the Mekong Region Waters Dialogue, Vientiane, Laos, 6-7 July 2006.
