Labour migration landscape in Asia (2015): Recent trends and policies

This presentation provides an update on trends in migration and policies in Asia. Data is provided on intra-ASEAN migration shares; shares of outflow of international migrant workers; and inflows to SE Asian countries, Korea and Gulf states. Driving forces are then analysed, including demand for migrant workers and economic disparities. Information is provided on relative wage levels, recruitment costs, and campaigns to promote a positive image of migrants. Presented at the 5th ADBI-OECD-ILO roundtable on labour migration in Asia, Shanghai, 28-30 January 2015.
