Decision 81: Approving the National Strategy on Water Resources to 2020

Decision to implement guidelines on water resource protection; including both general and specific objectives aimed at the protection, efficient use and sustainable development of the national water resources using integrated water management principles in order to: (i) meet the water demands from people for socio-economic development, defense, and environmental protection in a period of accelerating industrialization and modernization; (ii) take the initiative in preventing, fighting and minimizing the harm caused to water and by water; (iii) step by step form a diversified water sector suitable to a socialist-oriented market economy; (iv) raise the efficiency of cooperation, ensuring the harmony of interests among countries sharing water resources with Vietnam.
