Boeng Chhmar and associated river system and floodplain

Boeng Chhmar and associated river system and floodplain are named as Ramsar site, no.997. Recognized in 1999, this highly protected site covers areas of 28,000 hectares in Kampong Thom and Siem Reap provinces. The site plays substantial roles in hydrology and biodiversity, especially through the natural functioning of two major rivers, Stoeng Stoung and Stoeng Chikreng.
