Human rights in Cambodia: The charade of justice

A report about the justice system in Cambodia. It is argued that despite UNTAC intervention and 15 years of aid to legal and judicial reform, in 2007 the primary functions of the courts continue to be to persecute political opponents and other critics of the government; perpetuate impunity for state actors and their associates, and to protect the economic interests of the rich and powerful. The report includes chapters about the courts and politics, freedom of expression, impunity, economic interests, corruption and detention. The Khmer Rouge Tribunal, and options for reforming the court system, are also discussed. Available in English and Khmer.
