Environmental impact assessment (EIA) considers potential positive and negative effects of proposed large-scale development projects, such as hydro dam construction or gold mining. Cambodian law requires EIA reports for most large development projects, but the general public’s access to these reports is limited. Greater transparency may lead to growing confidence between the government, citizens, and the private sector.
