Cambodia​ continued​ to​ score​ low​ on​ international​ rankings​ of​ press​ freedom,​ and​ outlets​ that​ report​ critically​ on​ the​ government​ and​ others​ in​ positions​ of​ power​ faced​ increased​ threats​ or​ intimidation​ compared​ to​ recent​ years.​ Based​ on​ the​ existing​ reports,​ among​ the​ many​ challenges​ facing​ Cambodian​ journalists,​ the​ fear​ of​ legal​ harassment​ and​ physical​ assault​ were​ the​ most​ serious​ challenges​ for​ journalists​ in​ 2021.
