Artificial intelligence: empowering innovation, ethics, and inclusion in Cambodia

The report Artificial Intelligence: Empowering Innovation, Ethics, and Inclusion in Cambodia, jointly produced by UN ESCAP and Cambodia’s Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation (MISTI), outlines a strategic roadmap toward a knowledge-driven economy by 2050. While identifying five core systemic challenges including resource constraints, human capital shortages, and data scarcity. The publication highlights ten strategic sectors for AI deployment aligned with national priorities. Crucially, the framework proposes anchoring AI governance in Cambodia's Theravada Buddhist heritage emphasizing compassion and non-harm to foster an equitable, trustworthy, and culturally resonant technological future.
