Lao PDR is one of the twenty countries participating in FCPF, which is a pilot program to refine the Reduced Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD). REDD is considered to be one of key schemes under discussion to be applied in the second commitment period from 2012 after the Kyoto Protocol for reduction of green house gasses.
