Lower Sesan II hydropower project

The Lower Sesan 2 (LS2) hydropower project​ has installed capacity of 400MW, with a height of 75 meters and length of 6 kilometers. It will be implemented in Sesan district, Stung Treng province. Despite the environmental impact assessment (EIA) falling to meet international best practice, Cambodia's cabinet approved the project in late 2012. With the total estimated cost of US$ 781 million, most of which was allegedly reported from China's bank loans, the project is running under 40-years "built-operate-transfer"(BOT) concessional contract.
