The Head of the Royal Government of Cambodia has issued a sub-decree on the designation of Mekong River dolphin management areas in Stung Treng and Kratie provinces to protect and conserve dolphins. Environmental officials and civil society groups expect the sub-decree to make law enforcement more effective and increase dolphin populations. Well. This sub-decree was signed by the Prime Minister of Cambodia Hun Sen on February 27, 2023, defining the Mekong Dolphin Management Area, which is located in Stung Treng and Kratie provinces.
